Poem: Praying at the Feet

They tell the young girl,
To pray at the feet,
At the feet of the man,
Who dominates,
And controls,
Who won't listen,
In hope,
Of prayers,
Being answered,
The tall statue,
That is chipping,
His blue eyes,
His white skin,
Does nothing,
The young girl,
In her dress,
Hands clasped,
Looking up at the statue,
Prayers go unanswered,
But the plastic Jesus,
Plastic robe,
Plastic eyes,
Plastic skin,
Plastic world,
Little girl,
Send prayers,
From the soles of your feet,
To the core,
Of the spirit,
Of the soul,
Of Mother Earth,
She will listen to you,
She will honor you,
She will love you.
