Poem: Heart Open, Heart Closed

I am working on my heart these days. Its not easy. The stories have not been shared of why my heart is so very closed. But I can express what I feel through a poem. Cheers!

My poems are often like prayers to the land.

Heart Open, Heart Closed

Disenchanted,
Finding,
Sand,
In my hands,
Limited,
Situations,
My spirit convulses,
To try and find,
A place,
That I love,
Seeking,
Driving a long ways away from home,
Toiling in buildings,
I can't stand the Plains,
The West,
The Pacific Northwest,
Its all overrated,
But,
What is real and true,
In my heart,
Is the Northwoods,
They say you have to protect your heart,
When you are "down" in the city,
From city life,
From people,
People afraid to look you in the eye,
So,
I start building,
Gathering,
Planting seeds,
In a place that I love,
I am "down" in the city,
Watching my metaphoric garden grow,
In the city,
But in the Northwoods.
