Wonderful links, Cec. A few of them really tore me up--particularly the Iraqi feminist's. One of Bush's persuasive reasons for "spreading democracy" in Iraq was so that the women there would be liberated--as if 1) he ever cared about women's liberation in the US, and 2) as if the Bush administration ever fucking cared about liberating Iraqi women so much as it wanted to impose its own regime and anti-abortion and nationalist sentiment on them. I'm too young to know whether anybody bought that "progressive" reasoning or not, but it makes me fucking mad as hell now that I'm old enough to look back now. Liberation my ass. My heart goes out to that Iraqi feminist and all her sisters.

Dolly - Yes, what liberation right? It is more like patriarchal capitalistic and exploitative control. Not liberation but slavery. Definitely anti-choice an anti-woman. I love reading about feminists from the Middle East. They are doing amazing work over there!
